Hey everyone!
My breaker has tripped three times while charging over the past month. I am trying to figure out what's causing it, and the first thing that caught my eye is a broken clip on my EVSE.
Could this be messing with the connection and causing the breaker to trip?
I am using a Ford Mobile Charger on a dedicated circuit.
Hoping to get some thoughts on this!
Thanks!

That broken clip on your EVSE is definitely not good. Even though you're on a dedicated circuit, a bad connection can absolutely cause issues. Think of it like a kink in a hose coz it restricts flow and can cause pressure to build up. In this case, the "pressure" is excess current draw, which can trip the breaker. A loose connection can create resistance, leading to heat buildup and potentially even arcing, both of which are common culprits for tripping breakers. I'd strongly recommend getting that EVSE clip fixed or replaced ASAP. It's a small part, but it plays a big role in safe and reliable charging.

Did you have it confirmed? Let's just hope it's a wiring issue only.

Yep, a broken clip can definitely lead to a poor connection, causing arcing and tripping the breaker. definitely worth replacing the EVSE or at least fixing the clip

Oh yeah, that busted clip is probably the troublemaker here. Even if the rest of the system's on its own circuit, any little hiccup in the connection can cause some serious electrical headaches—think overheating or even arcing. Definitely worth giving the amperage rating of your breaker a second look too, just to make sure everything lines up with what your EVSE needs.
