I'm planning my longest road trip yet from Kentucky to Panama City Beach with my Extended Range Lariat (45k miles under its belt!). I’ve got a Tesla adapter and plan to use A Better Route Planner (ABRP) for the journey, but I’m wondering how well Tesla Superchargers will integrate into my route. Has anyone else done a long-haul trip using Tesla chargers with an adapter?
Here’s where I’m a bit unsure: I’ve heard that some Tesla chargers might not be compatible with the adapter. I’m considering setting my arrival SOC (state of charge) in ABRP to 40% to make more stops at higher peak speeds and leave a good buffer, just in case a Tesla charger doesn’t work out or there’s an error with CCS or Tesla charging.
For those who’ve taken their Lightning on extended trips, what’s your experience with route planning using ABRP or other apps? And any tips for staying relaxed and just enjoying the ride would be great, especially with the family on board! Just want to avoid that worst-case scenario of arriving at a non-compatible Tesla charger with a low battery.
