Hey everyone! Stupid question:
Is it safe to use a cable to extend my charger? The 240V is 35ft away (in the garage) from the parking place. I have the L1/2 charger. Thanks!

It's not recommended to extend your charger cable. Using an extension can lead to overheating or safety risks. Why not consider installing a dedicated outlet closer to the parking spot?

If you're on the hunt for a solid J-1772 extension cord, Lectron and A2Z are both pretty reliable picks. I’ve been rocking the Lectron one for a while, and it's been smooth sailing, no issues at all.

The Lectron 40-footer is definitely the way to go if you want reliability. The A2Z model doesn’t quite have the length you need to keep up.

AFAIK, while technically possible to use a cable to extend your F-150 Lightning charger, it is generally not recommended due to safety concerns. You know most manufacturers advise against using standard extension cords for EV charging because they may not handle the high current demands for prolonged periods. It's a potential fire hazard as it may cause overheating.

I can't move the garage, haha! and building a new one isn't worth it.
