Sunrun charger

I asked about the free charger that comes with the Lightning. The dealer told me to talk to Sunrun, but Sunrun said they don't do that anymore. I needed a coupon from the dealer, but they didn't know about it. I've seen ads saying Sunrun still does this. Anyone else have this problem?

I understand your frustration! I had a similar runaround when I picked up my Lightning. The dealership told me Sunrun would handle the free charger, but when I reached out to Sunrun, they said I needed a coupon from the dealer, sound familiar? After going back and forth, I found out that some dealers aren’t aware of how the promotion works anymore. My advice would be to go back to your dealer and ask them to check with their Ford corporate contacts. They might have to dig a bit, but they should be able to provide the right coupon or paperwork.

I had to do the same thing, and after a lot of back and forth, it finally got sorted. It’s a bit of a hassle, but once you get the charger, it’s worth the effort.

It seems like there’s been some miscommunication between dealers and Sunrun lately about the free charger program. From what I’ve gathered, Sunrun does still provide the chargers, but it’s up to the dealer to issue you a coupon or some sort of voucher to get it. If your dealer isn’t aware of it, you might need to escalate this a bit, either have them contact Ford directly or reach out to Ford customer service yourself to get more clarity.

A buddy of mine had to call Ford’s corporate customer service, and they were able to send him the necessary information to get things moving. It’s annoying, but it might just be a case of your dealership being out of the loop. Hopefully, you get your charger soon!

sounds like the classic runaround! I went through something similar when I was trying to get the free charger for my Lightning. My dealer acted like they had no clue about the Sunrun deal, and it was a mess trying to figure out who to talk to. It turns out the program still exists, but the dealer is supposed to give you a coupon or code to redeem it. Sounds like your dealership might be out of the loop, unfortunately, that seems to happen a lot with these promotions.

I’d recommend calling Ford’s customer support or even contacting Sunrun again to see if they can point you in the right direction. Sometimes it just takes talking to the right person who knows what’s going on.
