I spoke with my BEV rep today because my Lightning’s in the shop again, refusing to charge at any CCS stations. She mentioned Ford is rolling out CCS-to-Tesla adapters, but she added they’ll only work at some 150kW stations and all 250kW Tesla Superchargers. When I asked why only certain 150kW chargers, she wasn’t sure.
From what I read online, Ford has started allowing Lightning and Mach-E owners to reserve these adapters, which are compatible with Tesla V3 and newer chargers but won't work with older V2 units. I guess the goal is to fully switch to Tesla’s NACS port by 2025, removing the need for adapters altogether.
Now I’m left wondering if the adapters will work with the chargers I usually use or if I’ll need to plan my routes differently?
