I recently bought a Ford F-150 Lightning and got the CCS to Ford charge adapter, thinking charging would be simple. However, I’ve had no luck using my Ford Charge Station Pro. It keeps giving me errors either “Unable to AC charge” when I set the amps between 80 and 48 or “Charging equipment communication error” when I lower it to between 40 and 16 amps.

Eventually, I took the F-150 to a public CCS 100 kW charger, and it worked perfectly! At this point, it seems like my truck just wants to charge with the cool kids. Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue before I throw my charger a pity party?

I just remembered I faced the same issue with my electric vehicle charging at home; it kept giving me communication errors. After resetting the charger and updating its firmware, it started working perfectly.

Do you use Plugshare? Next time use it to get up to date info and ratings about charging stations. This way you can avoid bad or out-of-service locations.

Looks like your truck’s got some serious standards, huh? Maybe the FCSP needs a firmware refresh, or there’s a little hiccup with the CCS adapter. Have you tried giving the station a reset or reaching out to Ford support?

Done that already. Still no luck

Yeah, I’ll use Plugshare next time to find reliable charging stations and avoid the frustration of out-of-service ones.

Haha, it definitely seems like my truck has high standards! I haven’t tried resetting the station yet
