So, SAE just locked in the NACS connector as the new standard for EV charging in North America. This J3400 standard means Tesla's connector is no longer just for Teslas. It is about to be the go-to for Ford, GM, Honda, Rivian, and a growing list of brands.

I have tried to understand more about this topic, but I am quite catching my neurons in too much information. What does this mean for every day EV drivers like us? Any thoughts?

Great question! With SAE locking in the NACS as the J3400 standard, this chance really simplifies charging access across brands. Tesla's connector, which used to be Tesla-only, is now going mainstream: Ford, GM, Honda, Rivian, and others will be using it, too.

For every day EV drivers like us, here is what it means.
1. With more brands adopting the NACS connector, EV drivers won't need multiple adapters or worry about which charger works for which brand. Whether you are driving a Ford, GM, or Tesla, charging stations will be compatible, making it easier to find a charging spot.
2. Since Tesla's Supercharger network is already well-established, many of us will get access to a larger, reliable charging network right away. This standardization could push more public and residential stations to offer NACS charging as well.
3. SAE mentioned that the J3400 standard reduces the need for separate circuit panels and step-down transformers, which translates to cheaper installations and maintenance. Over time, this could mean more charging stations popping up in convenient locations.

In short, more compatibility, fewer headaches with adapters, and faster infrastructure expansion! It is a win for the EV community! I hope I answered your question!
